1956 Chevrolet Corvette for sale in Lenexa, Kansas

$56,900

1956 Corvette with dual quad 265. Although the Corvette would go on to be an American motoring icon, the mark almost came to an end after the 1955 model year. Enthusiasts bemoaned the straight six and two-speed Powerglide transmission and boulevard cruisers disliked being stuck with plastic curtains rather than proper roll-down windows. Whatever the reason, the Corvette simply wasn't selling. That all changed for 1956 when legendary GM designer Harley Earl penned what many believe to the best looking Corvette of all time. And America's love affair with the Corvette officially began. This numbers matching example is mostly original and equipped with the optional "449" high lift camshaft. Only 111 of these 265 cid, 240 horsepower cars were produced. The engine features dual carburetors. Also under the hood, one will find all of the original shielding, generator and stainless steel exhaust. The interior features the original Wonderbar radio. This car is an older restoration that starts right up and drives great. Black over silver paint looks good, but is showing its age in spots. Correct hub caps and wide whitewalls retain the cars classic original look. Here's your chance to own the Corvette that started it all!

Year:  1980 or older
